⏱️ How Time Is Calculated

This calculator derives panel build time estimates by summing task-based labor minutes for each component and operation, then applying adjustment factors for operator experience and shop conditions. The methodology is detailed below.

1. Task-Based Time Accumulation

  • Component counts (breakers, modules, terminals, etc.) are multiplied by per-unit time constants derived from NECA labor tables and vendor field guides.
  • Mechanical operations (drilling, mounting, wire duct installation) use fixed minute values scaled by enclosure size and hole count.
  • Wiring & labeling tasks auto-calculate terminal/label counts from component inventory when left at zero — overriding these yields a custom estimate.
  • Per-task minutes are adjustable. Every task with an info tooltip has an editable minutes field, pre-filled with the baseline value cited in these references. Enter your own shop's figures and all results — the breakdown, total hours, cost, and printed report — recalculate from them, and a Rate Customization Analysis shows exactly how your values differ from baseline.

3. Final Formula

Adjusted Minutes = Σ(Task Times) × Experience × Efficiency
Total Hours = ⌈Adjusted Minutes ÷ 60⌉
Days @ 8 hr = ⌈Total Hours ÷ 8⌉
Days @ 10 hr = ⌈Total Hours ÷ 10⌉
Actual Days (multi-crew) = ⌈Days ÷ Crew Size⌉  (for either shift length)
